Confirmation

No, not in church with a white robe...


This month I received this ๐Ÿ‘‡

Entrepreneur of the Month from a local meeting of a national business group that I'm a member of. And it was for "getting shit done". Confirmation that I am working hard on my business for the benefit of my clients. Thank goodness I actually dressed in something other than my usual jeans, as I wasn't aware I was getting the award beforehand. At the time though, I'm sure I did comment that I'd have done something with my hair had I known & not looked quite so bald for the photo!


But that's precisely what I have been doing for over a year. Getting shit done in probably the worse year ever to start a close-contact business. Still haven't decided whether I am brave or just plain stupid!


In any event, we made it to our one-year anniversary! Yes AromaOils is officially one year old. It doesn't feel like it should be our anniversary though because we didn't really open for any length of time until mid-April. So, although technically, the business doors opened in October last year, the business has only been properly operating for just about 6 months.

During this time, I've gone through 5 note books & a to-do book. And I'm already 12-pages into my lastest to-do book! Clearly I love lists ๐Ÿ˜‚


I've also had confirmation this month that the ballet I booked has been registered, as I've had the e-tickets through. But I booked two ballets (really pushing the boat out) and am still waiting on the tickets for the second one. I have the booking confirmation to say I've paid, but I could really do with the tickets too, please and thank you. We go every year, and this year I'm fortunate enough to see Cinderella and The Nutcracker, both of which I absolutely love. Last year was really disappointing as it was the first year ever we've not been able to go.


The Nutcracker has the music in it from the "fruit and nut" advert some years ago, for those of you old enough to remember it. The music is taken from Tchikovsky - it's actually the Dance of the Mirliton - I now sing that blasted advert every time I hear it... ๐Ÿคฆ

Culture aside, I've had to put on my crown this week and remind people who's daughter I am.


I rarely get cross in business; however, there are times when you just can't sit back and bite your lip. When we changed to green energy, I was promised a smart meter. That was back in February this year. It's taken me 9 months to chase it and, finally, I was given a date for installation. Wonderful. Now, installing this isn't as simple as it appears. Firstly, I have to arrange for the meter cupboard to be opened. Then I have to block off approximately five hours in my booking diary. Five hours you say? For an hour installation. Well, yes. I can't have any clients in the hour before, as I have to move the furniture out of the way. Then I have a 2-hour booking slot, rather than an appointment, so if the engineer turns up at 2 say rather than 12, I have to add another hour on top of that for them to complete the work. And, as the electricity has to be turned off, I then need another hour a. for the heating to go back on & b. to put the furniture back afterwards. So, for me this "simple" installation is anything but.

A smart meter means I no longer have to give monthly meter readings and that's a job I can then shelve, so ok, it's a pain but I will put up with the inconvenience. Then I get told that they don't even know if they can do the installation because until they open the meter cupboard because they need to see whether the unit is on a shared meter or not. ๐Ÿคฆ


And then to cap it all, I get a phone call from head office cancelling my appointment because there's "no fault" on the meter. I explained that there was no fault, that the appointment was for a smart meter installation. The lady said that that she'd leave the appointment open in that case, but advised me to check with the installation team. So, I duly did. And was ignored. So, again, I emailed them to request confirmation because the installation was booked for this Monday coming, explaining that they hadn't replied to my original email. To be told that there was no appointment; it had been cancelled because of a "technical issue". In other words, someone has cocked up their end. No, there's no alternative appointment available and yes, that they'd contact me with an alternative date when they had one. Great confirmation, people, not! ๐Ÿ˜ก


They then sent me a feedback form. Please rate our service. Oh dear... I'm sure you can guess what happened next...

So, I have no smart meter, no future appointment for installation, and currently no appointments for the hours I blocked off especially for them. And, I now have to do it all again. One is definitely NOT amused!
